Bartlett, Tennessee, with a 2010 population of 54,613 was founded in 1829 and originally named Union Depot. It had the distinction of being the last major way station of the stagecoach from Nashville to points west. When the age of stagecoaches was supplanted by the Memphis & Ohio Railroad, Union Depot continued to serve the railway. With less than 100 residents, the town incorporated in 1866 and changed the name to Bartlett in honor of nearby planter, Major Gabriel Bartlett. Today the town is a thriving suburb of Memphis that draws residents for the great schools, good neighborhoods and low crime.
